REVIEW | PALMER'S COCOA BUTTER LIP BALM

I've just got back from a week in Tenerife and picked these up a week or so before I went to try them out whilst I was there. In the past I've had problems with sunburnt lips, an area I usually forget about when it comes to protecting my skin from the sun, so this year I decided to make sure I had something with an SPF in for my lips. I also tried them out for a few days before I went. I picked them up for about £1.90 each at Superdrug.

My first impressions was that they smell (and taste) really nice. I really like the lip tint one, I was surprised at how pigmented it was and I really liked the colour.

When using them in the sun they protected my lips from getting burnt, both contain an SPF 15, so they did work for the purpose that I wanted them for. Also I found the tinted balm was great for adding that little bit of colour to my lips in the daytime without the need of applying loads of makeup.

However, I did find that my skin reacted to them, luckily not too badly. I found that they would make my lips tingle, itch and have a burning sensation when I put them on - and this wasn't from the sun because I was experiencing this on the few days which I was trying them out before I left. I tried to stick with them for a bit to double check that it was this product reacting with my lips and it was.

Overall I quite liked them and they did what they were meant to do, I'm just disappointed that they reacted with my skin. The only downfall I can think of is that I prefer my balms to last quite a while, and for me these didn't really last long enough - but this is just down to personal preference.

Bottom line
Would I buy them again? Due to having a reaction to them, no.
Would I recommend them to a friend? Yes, especially the tinted one! But only if you don't have sensitive skin and a history of having allergic reactions.

*UPDATE* - I found out what I reacted to, please read check out my next post for more information... Or you [can find it here]
